The Orion Health Amadeus<\/a> health data platform makes it possible to view clinical information from a range of third-party sources, across a variety of care settings. But Medicines Platform<\/a> makes it possible to aggregate and actively manage medication information within a single, consolidated record that can be trusted by clinicians and caregivers. In so doing, it has the power to reduce medication duplication and error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This single source of easily accessible\ntruth becomes even more important in the context of covid-19. With remote\nworking increasing \u2013 including remote consultations with patients\n\u2013 being able to monitor what has happened in multiple remote settings, and\nto understand a patient\u2019s clinical history without the benefit of face to face\nconsultation, is particularly valuable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Recent updates to Medicines Platform mean it can contribute even more effectively to increased safety and efficiency:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n These additions complement the longstanding core components of Medicines Platform:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Medicines Platform fully integrates\nwith the rest of Orion Health\u2019s product suite, including those for care\ncoordination, virtual care and patient engagement, bringing this crucial\nconsolidated information to a variety of workflows and use cases for the\nbenefit of patient care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Orion Health is dedicated to\ninteroperability and non-proprietary setups. To this end, Medicines Platform\nsupports SNOMED-CT medication terminologies and uses HL7 FHIR (Fast Healthcare\nInteroperability Resources) open standards. Put simply, this allows Medicines\nPlatform to read, access and make sense of information about medicines from\nother pieces of software\u2013 but also to share the information it\nconsolidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Consolidated Medication List FHIR\nAPI \u2018normalises\u2019 the data imported from other systems \u2013 in other words, it\naggregates and organises the data, making sure drug descriptions, brand names,\ncodes and dose instructions are consolidated during the process \u2013 and then\ncreates one current medication list which displays in Medicines Viewer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n This API also means Medicines Platform\ncan share a list of medicines with third-party software. This could be used to,\nfor instance, present the patient with one clear list of his or her medicines\nvia a patient portal provided by a supplier other than Orion Health. Or it\ncould be used within a hospital electronic patient record to support safe and\neffective admission and discharge, or efficient outpatient care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In short, Medicines Platform fully\nsupports interoperability.
