Auckland, New Zealand— Orion Health and NextGate have signed a multi-year contract with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in Victoria, Australia, to deploy the Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) technology for the Victorian Public Health Sector.

The Victorian DHHS delivers policies, programs and services that support and enhance the health and wellbeing of its population of 6.2 million people. As part of the statewide Health ICT strategic framework, DHHS is currently investing in refreshing and modernising key IT infrastructure across the state to improve connectivity across systems.

Orion Health, NextGate and MKM Health have partnered together to implement NextGate’s MatchMetrix© EMPI, the industry’s market-leading identity management solution for a longitudinal view of data and improved linking of information between organisations.

“Accurately and consistently connecting the right data to the right patient is a critical requirement in today’s complex healthcare environment that leads directly to improved outcomes,” said NextGate CEO, Andy Aroditis. “We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Orion and MKM Health to support DHHS Victoria with more reliable data to foster enhanced clinical decision making and comprehensive, coordinated care.”

This project is a significant investment in patient safety and will be a key enabler of information sharing between organisations providing patient care across the state of Victoria.
