{"id":9225,"date":"2021-12-08T20:31:00","date_gmt":"2021-12-08T20:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/orionhealth.com\/?p=9225"},"modified":"2024-11-21T01:46:08","modified_gmt":"2024-11-21T01:46:08","slug":"orion-health-director-of-research-appointed-to-the-digital-council-for-aotearoa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orionhealth.com\/global\/media-releases\/orion-health-director-of-research-appointed-to-the-digital-council-for-aotearoa\/","title":{"rendered":"Orion Health Director of Research appointed to the Digital Council for Aotearoa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The Digital Council for Aotearoa announced that PDH CEO and&nbsp;Director of Research for Orion Health, Dr Kevin Ross, has been appointed to the council.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Digital Council is an independent group of experts who advise the government on how to navigate the rapidly changing digital and data landscape in a way that will benefit all New Zealanders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CEO of Precision Driven Health (PDH) and Director of Research for Orion Health, Dr Kevin Ross, says he\u2019s delighted to be appointed to the Council.<br><br>\u201cIt\u2019s an honour to be invited to contribute to the work that the council does,\u201d says Kevin.<br><br>\u201cThe goal of the Council \u2013 to \u200b\u200bmaximise the societal benefits of digital and data-driven technologies \u2013 aligns with our purpose at PDH, which is to optimise the health of every individual and their wh\u0101nau by combining and learning from all available data,\u201d he says.<br><br>The Minister for Digital Economy and Communications, David Clark, appoints all members of the Digital Council in a process facilitated by the Department of Internal Affairs.<br><br>Minister Clark says that, to date, the Council\u2019s research and advice has focused on the importance of trust and inclusion in the digital world, which reflects the key themes of the government\u2019s in-development Digital Strategy for Aotearoa.<br><br>\u201c(Kevin and Julia)\u2019s internationally recognised expertise in data and digital insights will be invaluable as it focuses on digital innovation,\u201d Dr Clark said.<br><br>\u201cIn health data science, we face the challenge of creating value for society by analysing data that is sensitive, and must be respected. This kaitiakitanga (guardianship) and value conversation is at the heart of digital innovation\u201d.<br><br>Dr Ross is one of two new members of the Digital Council, and joins the seven-strong team along with Julia Arnott-Neenee of the Spinoff Group.
