ACT Health uses Rhapsody Integration Engine to connect to the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record (PCEHR) and support better healthcare and interaction between consumers and their healthcare providers.
The ACT Government Health Directorate (ACT Health) is a visionary entity and aims to deliver the best possible healthcare and health-related services through its public health network. This network includes: Canberra Hospital, Calvary Public Hospital, Community Health, Mental Health ACT, Capital Region Cancer Service, Aged Care and Rehabilitation Service, and Population Health, including the Health Protection Service.
ACT Health services a population of approximately 500,000 across ACT and surrounding areas and it completes 425 electronic discharge summaries per month at Canberra Hospital alone.
The Challenge – Connecting To The PCEHR
ACT Government Health Directorate is an early adopter and has chosen to connect to the PCEHR shortly after its go-live date.
As Renee Schofield, eHealth Project Manager from ACT Health commented, “In connecting to the PCEHR we hope to enable our local consumers to more actively participate in their own healthcare. We also see an opportunity to positively influence the direction of the PCEHR.
With our early connection we hope to support better healthcare and interaction between consumers and their healthcare providers, not only in our region, but nationally.”
