With less than a week to go until HIMSS18, the Orion Health team prepares to assemble in Las Vegas to network with the latest and greatest in Health IT.

With over 45,000 attendees and 3,100 companies exhibiting, it will be a week full of insightful meetings, notable presentations and discussions about emerging challenges and solutions in Healthcare IT. Here’s what we’re most looking forward to this year.

Although most industries have almost entirely migrated to the cloud, it remains a hot topic in the health sector due to the recent developments in compliance and certification, allowing the most regulated industries to join the movement. With our recent launch of Rhapsody as a Service (RaaS), we are excited to showcase Orion Health’s latest solution that provides all of Rhapsody’s powerful features in a cloud environment, connecting systems seamlessly, in less time, at a lower cost. The healthcare sector is taking advantage of the benefits of moving to the cloud, and we look forward to hearing from two Orion Health expert presentations: Steve Crusenberry on Planning Your Cloud Journey and Damien Leopard on A Modern Cloud Engine in a Traditional On-Prem Healthcare World. Damian will be presenting this informative session at two different times during the event:

Session 1: March 7 at 1:30pm, hosted in the Amazon Web Services booth 1626.

Session 2: March 7 at 11:00am, in the Orion Health booth 5454. Register here.

The shift value-based care is ongoing important topic at HIMSS18. At the center of this shift is the need to adopt new care deliver models driven by analytics, care coordination and management, and patient engagement. Orion Health customer, Innovation Care Partners, will be discussing their success with the Medicare Shared Savings Program and the significant savings they have generated using value-based focused applications in their session, Shared Savings Power Tools: An ACO-Focused App and Open HIE.

In addition, as precision medicine continues to reign as a dominant topic in healthcare, we will be sharing our ground-breaking research in machine learning and engaging in discussions about how data is transforming the practice of medicine. We anticipate interesting debate around the potential of machine learning in healthcare solutions and how it can help clinicians make more accurate decisions at the point of care.

Dr Kevin Ross, General Manager of Precision Driven Health will be outlining some of the exciting machine learning projects his team have been working on, including a tool that can predict stroke outcomes and the exploration of deep learning of EHRs. Dr Ross’ presentation, “Empowering Data-Driven Health” is on March 7 at 8:30am in the Venetian Convention Center, Palazzo D.

Among the impressive line-up of speakers, we are eager to hear keynote speaker Eric Schmidt, former executive chairman of Alphabet Inc. and former CEO of Google, share his perspective on the untapped potential of machine learning and the cloud for technology to improve health for millions of people.

We are most excited about Dr John Halamka’s cloud computing keynote speaking session, Healthcare’s Digital Evolution: The Road Forward Leads To The Cloud on March 5. The CIO of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Orion Health board director, believes cloud computing holds the key to innovation, security and enhanced scalability, and will explain the road to healthcare’s future through the cloud.

To convene after a full day of engaging speakers and sessions, we are hosting our Wine Happy Hour from 4-6pm on March 6 and 7, where we look forward to enjoying a few drinks and treats with great company. Our product experts will be on-hand to share new and exciting features to support your organization.

If you are attending HIMSS18, be sure to stop by booth 5454 to learn more about how Orion Health and Precision Driven Health are tapping into the burgeoning field of data-driven health.
