"We had 4,000 existing interfaces on our eGate engines," said Michael Wallace, director, enterprise application integration and MEDITECH HIS, Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), at a special presentation at HIMSS17. “When we went through those 4,000 after we migrated our integration engines, we actually rationalized it down to 2,500.”

Wallace described how CHI now has the ability to:

  1. Process 50 million messages per day on four production engines while interfacing to over 800 applications.
  2. Maintain 19 environments. “We broke down our environments by state, and CHI's got over over 100 hospitals across 19 states," said Wallace.
  3. Decrease development time. CHI now relies on their analysts to cover some 90 percent of the work that they once had to rely on contractors to provide, dramatically reducing costs and eliminating the need for contractors altogether.
  4. Offer robust security. "We're doing 50 million messages a day. I can't afford one of those to be unsecure," said Wallace.
