Northern Ireland operates under a national Health and Social Care System, which is responsible for commissioning services, resource management, and service improvement to deliver population health management to Northern Ireland.
Within the system there are a total of six Health and Social Care (HSC) Trusts. Five HSC Trusts provide integrated health and social care services across Northern Ireland: Belfast HSC Trust, South Eastern HSC Trust, Western HSC Trust, Southern HSC Trust and Northern HSC Trust. The solution was delivered by the Regional Business Services Organisation (BSO).
Faced with many disparate clinical systems, Health and Social Care Northern Ireland (HSCNI) recognised that an increasing amount of clinical time was being dedicated to locating relevant patient information. This was preventing clinicians from making effective and timely decisions.
