Orion Health receives two Canadian Health Informatics Awards at e-Health Conference
Population health company recognized for corporate citizenship, innovation and care delivery
Toronto, ON – Orion Health, a leader in population health management and healthcare integration solutions, announced it was the recipient of two Canadian Health Informatics Awards (CHIAs) at the 2018 eHealth Conference in Vancouver. The company won the Corporate Citizenship Award for its industry-leadership and investment in Canadian digital health, and the Innovation and Care Delivery Award for its work on the Alberta Community Information Integration (CII) project.
CHIAs, which celebrate leaders, innovation and achievements in health informatics, are awarded by Digital Health Canada and the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC). Orion Health continues to be an active participant in the awards, having won the Project Team Implementation Award for Health Report Manager, along with OntarioMD, in 2017.

Orion Health was awarded for Corporate Citizenship based on its demonstrated commitment to health informatics and digital health. This was delivered through high-quality papers and abstracts, relevant workshops, participation in associations and institutions, support of health IT publications, and volunteered resource time to industry projects and initiatives.
Throughout the year, Orion Health executives shared best practices at a number of events, including for Canada Health Infoway, ANHIX / Digital Health Canada and the Ontario Hospital Association. Orion Health was also recognized for Innovation and Care Delivery award. This award recognizes a for-profit healthcare ICT company and client team (private and public sector) that have successfully implemented a new, innovative health-IT solution at a healthcare organization. The successful project team will demonstrate the achievement of stated objectives and provide a success story from which other organizations can learn. The award recipient will have fully implemented a health-IT solution within the past 12 months. For the Community Information Integration (CII) Project, the CHIA Innovation and Care Delivery award was given to Orion Health and the Alberta Ministry of Health, Alberta Health Services, AMA, Sherwood Park Primary Care Network and Microquest.
Alberta CII  aims to improve continuity of care for Albertans through better sharing of patient information. It does so by allowing data collected in community-based primary care clinics available to more provincial healthcare providers through Netcare (Alberta’s Electronic Health Record). CII provides a more complete longitudinal patient record (that is stored in Netcare) by including the primary care information The information will also serve as a key asset in health analytics for quality improvement, population health assessment and health system planning. This program required a collaborative approach that engaged both the community and primary health care partners.
