Wangaratta, Victoria – The 90,000 people served by Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW) can now enjoy significantly more efficient and joined up healthcare as a result of its successfully upgraded Clinical Workstation. This comprehensive transformation in collaboration with Orion Health replaces legacy systems with state-of-the-art solutions, setting a new benchmark for healthcare technology in the region.

The upgrade by Orion Health and NHW ensures that clinicians have faster, more accurate access to the information they need, reducing delays and enabling personalised treatment plans. Whether it’s improving medication safety or supporting seamless care transitions, these advancements mean patients and their families can have greater confidence in the care they receive.

Orion Health Clinical Director, Carey Campbell said “the success of any digital health solution is when people like it and use it to make a difference. And that’s exactly what we’ve seen at Northeast Health Wangaratta. From positive comments and curious questions, to excitement at adding more functionality in the future, this is shown in the team’s willingness to embrace the upgraded solution to improve care.”

Highlights of the Upgrade

  • Modernised systems: the implementation retired legacy systems, enabling NHW to leverage advanced functionality through Orion Health’s newest platforms, offering enhanced data accuracy, workflows, and clinical decision-making tools.
  • Streamlined transition: forms data was meticulously migrated, and tailored technical solutions were developed to support NHW’s complex needs.
  • New capabilities: the upgrade brings cutting-edge modules such as Results, Medicines Management, and Care Pathways to NHW, improving clinician productivity and patient outcomes.

As part of the Hume Region Health Alliance, NHW’s upgrade opens the potential for expanded solutions across the region, fostering integrated care and data sharing.

Dr Justin Otto, Digital Health Consultant at Northeast Health Wangaratta, said: “While the upgrade marks the culmination of months, and even years, of dedicated effort, it’s just the beginning of a journey towards continuous improvement and broader user engagement.
