Multi-tenanted health information exchange (HIE), powered by Orion Health’s Amadeus platform, to improve health data sharing and population health management across the state.
BOSTON – July 29, 2021 – Idaho Health Data Exchange (IHDE), Idaho’s statewide designated health information exchange (HIE), is partnering with Orion Health, a leading global provider of population health management solutions, to migrate IHDE to Orion Health’s state-of-the-art, next generation HIE platform.
Orion Health will migrate IHDE from its legacy platform, including interface connections and historical data, to the company’s multi-tenant Amadeus platform. The migration will increase the overall value of the HIE for participants and will help Idaho communities create lasting system-wide improvements in the value of patient care. Amadeus is a highly scalable and open platform built on modern technology to securely capture, aggregate and store all types of health data in one place, creating and supporting an innovative health ecosystem. The platform is well-positioned to support population health management initiatives and value-based care models, as well as to adapt to new and emerging models of care and extract future value from data collected today.
Amadeus’ API management layer allows third-party developers to build new capabilities and specialty applications on the platform, which helps to break down data silos and fosters innovation, enabling the best applications to be developed for every healthcare scenario. The migration will also include the deployment of new modules to expand capabilities within the HIE.
“In 2020, IHDE embarked on a major overhaul and revitalization of its business model, technology stack and services offering,” said Hans Kastensmith, Executive Director of IHDE. “The majority of this work has been completed and is now being enhanced. As part of the vision and technology stack revitalization, IHDE made the decision to move to the Orion Health Amadeus platform to support our goal of improving the quality and coordination of healthcare in Idaho. The migration to a multi-tenanted shared platform will offer advanced capabilities and greater value to our participants across the state, helping improve population health and creating an enhanced partnership with Orion Health.”
To support the migration and ongoing partnership, Orion Health will provide dedicated resources to perform the ongoing technical onboarding of new data providers and their interfaces, as well as work as an extension to the IHDE team on technical solutions within the HIE.
“Orion Health is excited to leverage our long-established relationship with IHDE to migrate its HIE to our Amadeus platform, which will increase capabilities, data sharing and interoperability, benefiting both patients and providers across the state of Idaho,” said Chad Peterson, Chief Revenue Officer (U.S.) of Orion Health. “The IHDE platform will serve as a model for the industry and support the vision of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to enhance, utilize and share technology in place in the healthcare ecosystem.”
