Health Informatics New Zealand Conference 2018
As a gold sponsor of the Health Informatics New Zealand (HiNZ) conference, we are proud to have a variety of our people speaking and attending New Zealand’s largest digital health event this year. Held at the TSB Arena in Wellington from November 21 to 23, we are excited to share our latest solutions and research with the rest of the Health IT community.
Dr Peter Bramley, CEO at Nelson Marlborough Health is speaking about the successful implementation of the South Island Patient Information Care System (SI PICS), a single patient administration system, developed with Orion Health technology, to replace eight aging and systems across the South Island. The SI PICS programme was pioneered out of the strong relationship between all five South Island DHBs due to the aligned vision of connecting care across a geographically vast region. SI PICS connects health workers with coordinated, consistent access to a single region-wide solution, resulting in improved quality and safety systems, and a more streamlined patient journey across the health system.
Amongst the impressive line-up of keynote speakers, we are most looking forward to hearing Eric Topol speak about precision medicine. As the EVP of the Scripps Research Institute, Professor of Molecular Medicine and the Founder and Director of the Scripps Translational Science Institute, Eric has an extensive background and experience across the medical research sector, and he has been an integral part of the precision medicine movement globally. I anticipate it will be a very interesting session that will challenge the way we think about precision medicine, especially to hear Eric’s view on how data generation and information processing are driving the new approach to medicine and healthcare.
Clinical Product Specialist at Orion Health, Michael Hosking is an invited speaker, and will be discussing the findings from HiNZ research on what is needed for the health informatics workforce to support the digital health strategy. Michael is passionate about the professional development of the health informatics workforce, and is a Certified Health Informatician Australasia (CHIA), a credential that acknowledges competency to perform digital health skills across a range of settings.
Amongst other Orion Health speakers is Jens Andreas, Medications Management Product Manager. Speaking at both a quick-fire session about how Orion Health Medicines is optimising medicines at Scotland’s largest health board, and about a Precision Driven Health funded research project. Smart MedRec is a project that aims to label unstructured dose instructions data, so it can be processed by machine learning models. This will eventually allow medicines reconciliation to be automated, as this is currently a very labour intensive and error prone task. Dr Kevin Ross is speaking about the use of machine learning in the delivery of cost-effective healthcare, as well as presenting an update of the Precision Driven Health partnership.
In addition to a range of speaking sessions, we are excited to have a number of subject matter experts available for discussion on the booth. On the stand, we will discuss our recently-launched secure health data store, Amadeus CORE. We’ll also discuss and demonstrate our single vendor hospital information system (complete with a robust patient administration system), Enterprise, as well as our Remote Patient Management solution. Plus, we’ll have experts on the stand to discuss all of our other solutions which help health organisations, by enabling smarter hospitals and fostering healthier populations.
Come and visit us at booths 34 & 35 during the conference. If you’d like to book a meeting with one of our highly-skilled people (at the conference or otherwise), please contact us.
We look forward to seeing you there.
