In July 2018, Stephen Beattie, eHealth programme manager at the Business Services Organisation, discusses the Northern Ireland Electronic Care Record (NIECR) at the King’s Fund Digital health and care congress.
NIECR was rolled out across the whole country in 2013, to provide health and social care professionals with a single view of key patient information. Today, this has over 38,000 named users and has processed more than 4.5bn messages. In recent years, the solution has been extensively and consistently broadened in capability to support care. In this session around NIECR’s five-year anniversary, Stephen Beattie describes the journey that NIECR has been on, including the latest developments around electronic referrals, medications management and a patient portal for a dementia cohort.
