Leading Population Health Experts and HIE Clients to Share Strategies on Patient Data Sharing and Care Coordination, Exhibit at the Show
BOSTON – February 12, 2020 – (HIMSS Booth #846) – Orion Health, a leading provider of population health management solutions, today announced that its Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Chris Hobson, and Research Director, Dr. Kevin Ross, were selected to present two sessions at the 2020 HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition. HIMSS20 brings together nearly 45,000 health information and technology professionals, clinicians, executives and market suppliers from around the world.Â
In the presentation “Creating a Comprehensive Statewide HIE,” Dr. Hobson and Shila Thorson, director for North Dakota Health Information Technology, will explain how the North Dakota Health Information Network is working to improve healthcare outcomes for all North Dakotans by creating a secure and interoperable statewide medical record exchange for providers and consumers. This session will take place on Wednesday, March 11 at 4:00 PM ET in the Orlando – Orange County Convention Center, W304A.
In the session, “Ethical Machine Learning,” Dr. Ross, who also serves as CEO for Precision Driven Health, will discuss the ethical challenges related to developing and deploying machine learning models. More specifically, this session will outline the types of ethical questions that should be asked to ensure machine learning models are developed with transparency and public trust in mind. In light of the upcoming session, Dr. Ross said, “The potential to improve health outcomes through machine learning is inspiring, and we have a responsibility to value the people whose data is involved in building our models.” This session will take place on Tuesday, March 10 at 1:30 PM ET in the Orlando – Orange County Convention Center, W207C.Â
“We are excited to be presenting and exhibiting at HIMSS this year, especially as patient data sharing and machine learning continue to gain momentum in the healthcare industry,” said Dr. Hobson. “The conference always serves as a great opportunity for us to engage with various healthcare innovators on how to apply the healthcare lessons we’ve learned globally to the U.S. market. We also look forward to hearing from our customers and other industry leaders on the top issues facing their organizations and how emerging technologies can play a role in their ability to deliver integrated care.”
Orion Health will be hosting a focus group at HIMSS20 that will explore how payers, providers and accountable care organizations are evolving their HIE networks to incorporate new tools, such as remote patient monitoring, to bridge care coordination gaps. The focus group titled “Moving HIEs towards Care Coordination: Perspectives from ACOs, Providers and Payers,” will take place on Tuesday, March 10 at 3:45 PM ET at the Orlando – Orange County Convention Center, W105B.
