The Care and Health Information Exchange is one of the oldest shared care records in England, yet it is constantly evolving to meet new standards.
CHIE holds information from more than 140 GP surgeries in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight as well as data from local hospitals, community health, mental health, and social care teams. Around 200,000 records are now viewed every month and SCW is working to increase usage by extending access to new areas of health and social care, starting with care homes.
The Challenge
COVID-19 created a new impetus for extending access to the Care and Health Information Exchange to care homes, but it was essential to find a way to do this securely.
